Local Missions Day 9

Today we went downtown to give sandwiches to the homeless. We started the day making the food and going over what to do and expect along the way. Each person learned a great deal and I’m going to let their comments do the rest of the talking today. Tomorrow we go again.

Blessings, Laura

Pierre : it was good, great,
This Got into my heart, I put myself in their place, their reactions to food was amazing

Viktor: I really enjoyed today’s mission. At first I was nervous because I didn’t really know what to say to the homeless, but after I gave the first bag of sandwich I felt like giving more. Exploring downtown was also pretty cool. My favourite part was when I gave a bag to a homeless woman and then she asked me if I could also give a bag to one of her friends.

I really enjoyed connecting with people we talked to. It was cool how complete strangers could be so open to having a lengthily conversation with you. It was a fun and humbling experience.

This missions trip went by really fast like it feels like just yesterday we were at the retreat. At first I wasn’t very exited about the local Missions solely because I wasn’t going to travel but honestly I’m glad I stayed and I feel really blessed to have gone through this experience ( the cute kids the encounter with the homeless, the volunteering). I can’t wait for the Belize trip to come back but at the same time I don’t want this to end.

Magdala- today was a great day I had the chance to give food to the homeless. I have to admit at the beginning I was a little nervous but seeing them smile made my day. Overall it was a really good experience.

I really enjoyed meeting and getting to know many homeless people. At first, I was a bit nervous but after talking to a couple of people, I learnt that they enjoyed having conversations with us. I also enjoyed learning about their stories and how they became homeless. I’m glad that I got to experience this.

Today was an amazing day. I was able to talk to a few homeless people and the conversation was rather interesting. I will talk about two people I meet on the street. One there was Greg, he was living on the streets for two years. He wishes to travel the world with his other homeless friends. For now he wants to go to British-Columbia then possibly somewhere in Asia to party. Then there was Steven, he was living on the streets for 15 years with his cat Griffon. He used to be a carpenter but his boss would rarely pay him.
